2020 Color of the Year: Is Navy Blue The New Grey?
Once the decorations are down, the New Year is the perfect time to ring in a new look – whether that be a coat of paint, a change of furniture, or a couple of cushions. If you’re planning a revamp consider the 2020 color of the year, Naval by Sherwin Williams.
“The use of color in interior design is changing,” said Sue Wadden, director of color marketing at Sherwin-Williams, in a statement. “It’s not just about what a space looks like anymore, but how it makes you feel. People want to feel grounded and inspired to pursue their mental, physical and emotional well-being. Naval is reminiscent of the night sky, which people have looked to for centuries for guidance, as a muse and as a reminder to live more mindfully.”
Wadden recommends pairing Naval with natural materials, such as leather, plants and woven fiber rugs. The rich blue can also be complemented with burnished golds, natural greens or sandy neutrals.
It is a color that can look very powerful on your bedroom walls, don’t be afraid of the dark navy blue because it will look awesome with your white bed or your white sheets and pillows.
